AP 15202 or VC Overseas 4500V?

    My current collection is

    Rolex Explorer 2016

    Saxonia Thin 37mm

Looking to add one of the below as my third piece hopefully in the near future.

I just tried on the VC blue dial today and it was AWSOME!

The 15400 AP was just too big and the 37mm AP didn’t look rugged or sporty enough because of the size. The smaller dial really dresses the AP up making it look more like a 36mm Datejust type of watch rather than a sports watch. My AD is going to call me when the 15202 they ordered comes in so I can try the AP in a 39mm size.

Which would you choose and why? Owners of both please specify why you prefer one over the other.

Another option is to wait until AP releases the 15300 or a variant with a seconds hand again.

No biggie. I’ll just count that as a vote for the VC and minus 1 from the AP.

My vote is for the Vacheron Constantin Overseas, because I prefer its appearance.

I would go for AP, I absolutely love the bracelet and the design of royal oak although Overseas is no slouch either. Then there's the value retention, 15202 commands a premium on preowned market while the new overseas tend to drop in value. The movement in the AP is gorgeous and the Overseas is not bad either with Geneva seal. You get extra leather and rubber strap with Overseas with easy strap change system. The value is in Overseas but the heart prefer the AP

The Jumbo is a special watch but I wish it had a second hand. Despite that, I voted AP.

The VC is nice but I prefer the previous generation of the Overseas with the Arabic numerals. The current version looks a bit generic/sterile without them. (The AP can get away with it since the tapisserie dial adds back a nice design element...)

Would you consider a pre-owned 15300 in blue? Why wait for a re-release that may or may not happen for who knows how long?
Well, I was standing on a corner in Winslow, AZ and Clara Oswald slowed down to take a look at me and my GS Tiffany SnowflakeTM...

AP for me, by a wide margin.
    I have 6.25-6.5" wrist.

Jumbo is just a perfect combo of sporty and understated. Yes, it lacks a second hand, but the case and bracelet combo are excellent, dial is very interesting, and overall fit on the wrist (including thickness or lack there of) makes it a pleasure to have on a wrist.

Overseas looks good, but is a bit of plain jane in person and wears uncomfortable in my view.
Even 2000V ultrathin just did not sit right on the wrist.
Also, not a fan of quick-change bracelet\strap system

Watches like RO or Overseas with their bracelet designs and case shapes are all about how well they fit your wrist. Try them on in person - would not recommend buying either RO or Overseas without personal wrist experience. The case cushion and bracelet integration can make it a wonderful watch or an uncomfortable mess.

Another vote for 15202 but be prepared for a long wait unless you are willing to pay a premium over MSRP. I find the new overseas wears larger than 41mm personally.

Re: AP 15202 or VC Overseas 4500V?

I voted AP and would go for a 39mm version (either 15202 or 15300). The RO is an iconic watch with a very distinct design. The Overseas is very, very nice, but the RO gives you something really different at that price level.
