    Atomic and Radio Controlled

Besides my interest in learning about auto-mechanical watches, I'm also curious about all these atomic/radio controlled watches available these days.

I like the idea of having a watch that I can always rely on to have updated time, especially for work use. Are all of these watches created equal? I've noticed that some seem to be somewhat thick, I guess to contain the technology that receives the signal(s).

Aside from that, what particular atomic/RC watches would you all recommend? Any informative comments are greatly appreciated! :)

Jason_Recliner, aka Toby, would be a good guy to talk to about this. I'm pretty sure there are a few G-shocks that use atomic control and are satellite linked to receive the corrected time about 3-6 times per day... that's pretty awesome and accurate!!! Solar G-shocks are pretty popular, think they use the same technology as well.

I can always count on you, Beyond 'The Box'. :) I have a feeling my money is going to be disappearing very soon...

    >>>G-Shock!

This one in particular is my favourite of all the atomic models, it's a Multi Band 6 Riseman, packed with all the bells and whistles...

I've got a tough solar atomic G shock - picked it up at Target last year. I love it! It's my 'go-to' weekend beater and it's also the watch I use to sync/set all my other watches. It syncs in middle of the night and a little graphic on the display confirms the sync.

All Master of G wacthes are available with atomic reception, AFAIK. All are awesome.

Citizen Skyhawks and Navihawks are also available with atomic, and are likewise awesome.

But for the full serving of awesomess icecream, topped with sprinkles of awesomeness, it's hard to look past Citizen's Attesa range IMO. Pricey, but with DLC they are probably worth it. True awesomeness doesn't come cheap.

Me? I'm a cheap [email protected], so I'm currently trying to choose between an atomic riseman or skyhawk / navihawk. Not easy, especially when there is also the Citizen promaster SST hanging about - no atomic, but 1/1000 chrono, with dials and a hand that actually spins 10x a second. The raddest, baddest, maddest most psychadelic stopwatch I ever laid eyes on. played with one at my AD last night and fell in love.

But that's another story for another thread.

Thanks for the info, jason_recliner! Those Attesa's are gorgeous. I have to say my budget isn't too large as well, so right now the atomic Riseman is looking pretty good, considering it seems to be the most cost-effective of the bunch. I think I'll try one on in a store to see how it looks on me. It's a big sucker, so I might have to beef up just to pull it off! ;)
