Autodromo Prototipo VK64 Chrono function broken!!!

Hey all. Does anyone have some knowledge about the Seiko VK64 movement? I tried changing the battery myself and thought it was more complicated than it actually was. Long story short is I managed to mess with the mechanical pusher for the Chronograph function and now the linkage won't reset back to zero. It stop/starts no problem and everything works fine, it just won't reset. I took it to a watchmaker and he said it can't be repaired. Should I replace the movement or sell as-is? What would you pay for this watch? It's in near perfect condition (other than the movement of course). I paid $675 USD brand new. Thanks for any feedback.

Tell the watchmaker to replace the movement, it costs like $20-$30 to buy online. The watchmaker can replace the old movement with the new one.

Can't be repaired? Not worth it I would believe, but saying he can't repair it either suggests he's not very good or doesn't want the job.

As X2 said, source a new movement and find someone willing to swap it out for you.

OP, did you try a standard quartz chronograph reset? I'm not sure if it'll work on a VK64, but worth trying?

Sounds like the reset pusher is busted, rather than just resetting to the wrong position.
