I bought a Tissot PRS 516 Extreme chrono when the big bad Joma had them on super sale last year.
I unfortunately don’t love it. The styling is almost obnoxious in the metal, the factory strap looks and feels like weatherstripping, the lugs are too long (forcing super thick strap choices), and the 23mm lug width adds to the woe of strap replacement. Not to mention it’s reportedly not the best movement inside (not a Valjoux 775x), although - knock on wood - mine’s worked perfectly.
I’m considering a Mido Multifort automatic chrono. Better styling, better movement, although it still has that 23mm lug width.
What other options are there? This must be an automatic chrono, ~44mm case diameter, black-red (maybe black-orange also) color scheme, for about $2000 (gray market OK). Smaller brands preferred (e.g. Steinhart); micro brands are fine.
All I’ve found so far is the Autodromo Monoposto, but it looks like it has fixed lugs, so strap changes are impossible...
