Baume & Mercier is Going in a Very Good Direction

Just saw this on hodinkee and thought I'd share it: EXCLUSIVE: Your First Look At The Baume & Mercier Capeland Manufacture Worldtimer — HODINKEE - Wristwatch News, Reviews, & Original Stories
First the Capeland Flyback, then the Clifton, now this. I am very impressed by what B&M is doing. I hope the case sizes will get smaller though.
    Collection:
    Vacheron Constantin Overseas
    JLC Deep Sea Chrono
    Breguet Marine Grande Date
    Tudor Black Bay Black
    Omega Speedmaster 3570.50

I really do like the new B&Ms - the one that RBrylawaski has is gorgeous. They have a classic look about them without being run of the mill.

    Agree about the size.

Just chiming in to what appears to be the consensus, but I love this watch. The world time complication is well executed, it somehow works particularly well with the Breguet-style hands of the watch, and the pebble-smooth back with the small display window is actually pretty cool, it has an almost-nautical porthole feeling. My one quibble would be with the 44mm size -- I think 40-42mm would be better for an elegant watch like this.

I agree that 44mm might be a little large for a more classic looking watch like that, but who knows how the case will wear until its on someone's wrist.

As for the movement, Hodinkee hinted that they might know which Richemont sister group made if for them, but they didn't tell... any ideas?

Lastly, this watch needs to contend with the Frederique Constant Worldtimer, which also has an in-house movement and is nearly half the price.

Looks good. Not too happy about the price point, but I guess inhouse with a complication can warrant that price. I'm generally not a fan of city names spelled out all around the dial, but this is probably the best implementation of it.

8 grand for that? Not a big fan of the tiny movement in a bigger case. They did a nice job on the dial but don't love it enough for that.

B&M flyback and Classima 8688 are definately on my radar for when I get older / money

Even the Watch Snob tends to agree with B&M's direction: "Baume & Mercier is showing signs of life and may be a brand I could actually recommend to the stingy readers who write me week after week."

    JLC?

I think I prefer the FC World Timer. Half the price too
