    Re: Beaters

This used to happen to me. I'd buy a nice watch, then was too afraid of messing it up, so I'd buy a beater. The good watch sat in the box. Finally, I sold the good ones and wear the "beaters". I'm having a lot more fun with a lot less stress. It will be a long time before I ever pay more than $200.00 for a watch again.

    Beaters

Damasko seems very interesting after reading some of the technology that goes into there watches.

Sinn is a little out of my price range for there fully tegimented pieces.

Bremont is way outside my range, for 2013 at least (probably going to buy 1 nice watch and 1 tool/beater for 2013).

For me, in your price range it would be a Damasko DA47. Tough as nails, anti-magnetic, auto, gorgeous and exactly in your price range at Gnomon. http://www.gnomonwatches.com/product-detail.asp?pid=646

    Re: Beaters

Preowned Kobold Seal, new WCT diver, preowned Sinn U series would be my suggestions. Personally, I'd call these tool watches, not beaters though. A beater to me is something more like a Seiko Monster. However, if you've got that kind of budget, why not...

I probably should have called them tool watches or maybe a "man" watch.

Kobold is way outside my price range.

I was looking at Sinn but recently started looking at Damasko.

These purchases will eat up my entire 2013 budget. I am weighing a Omega PO8500 LM Titanium vs an Aqua Terra 8500 and a reasonably priced tool watch (most likely going to be a damasko).

In my opinion, if the LM Titanium is worth the extra cost to you, get that. You can always take it off if you're going to do something that might tear it up and if you get the other when you really want the PO, you won't be happy.
