Best finish in a dress watch under $500 USD?

Here's another one of those help me find a watch threads for the venerable WIS's of Watchuseek.
I've been searching for a dress watch to wear with a suit.

    My requirements are...

Case diameter: Between 35.5 and 38.5 mm w/o the crown.
Height: I'm trying to stay under 10.0 mm (I can forgive it a little if the finish is exceptional).
    Crystal: Sapphire or acrylic.
Bracelet: Although I have been looking at black leather straps, I can be warmed to steel bracelet. I've been avoiding brown straps & gold or gold-PVD cases.

Here's what I found for under $500 USD in no particular order.

Mido Baroncelli Automatic or Commander (chronometer?)
    Tissot Carson Automatic
    Longines Presence Automatic
    Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic (round)
Atlantic Seacrest Automatic (38mm, arabic or baton)
    Certina DS1 Automatic
Stowa Antea Creme or Black (39mm?... I hope that includes the crown.)

Basically I'm looking for the best finish that can be had for under $500. Having not seen any of these watches in person, it's hard to judge them. So I'm wondering if anyone here can give opinions? Of course, additions are welcome to the list.

btw... I'm also keeping in mind that a Stowa Antea KS can be had for $515 USD.

    Ruled out:
Tissot Le Locle - at 39.3 mm diameter, it's too big
Christopher Ward Malvern C5 - at 10.8mm, it's too thick
    Seiko SCVS013 - too thick at 11.3mm
Seiko SARB027 - Hardlex... once it gets scratched
Tourby Brand - most of them are too large, not a fan of open hearts
    Oris Classic 37mm - can't find one under $500USD
Epos 3387 - 39mm, but I love the blue hands & pearlage on the movement. Can not find it under $500 USD anymore.

All the watches you list will have great finishes, I can tell you the Mido Commander polishing is top notch, it was as nice as my friends polished Breitling.

The base movment is all Mido watches are Elabore grade, find that with another maker.

Watchesgalaxy has a the commander on leather at $359.00 never purchased from them though so I would check their credentials.

EDIT: watchesgalaxy has a Mido All Dial Chronometer on sale for $586, it is yellow and black but that is a good deal for an All Dial, let alone one with a chronometer grade movement

Understeer is when you hit the wall with your front end. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with your rear end. Horsepower is how hard you hit the wall. Torque is how far you move the wall.

This is a very interesting point. I may be able to eliminate some on the list based on the movement. I wonder what on the list isn't at least elabore grade?

btw... I would likely pick the Mido Commander Chronometer over the Mido Commander.

Mido is under priced and under appreciated I think.
I don't really care for that date display on the one in the link above though.

Agreed, the 3 day spread is a little silly, and the yellow and black is not the greatest look but not a bad price for what you get overall.

And the price is $586 not $482 as I had originally posted (and fixed) that's what I get for sneaking a look at watch sales while I'm at work

So would I, unless the white All Dial was on sale. $449 for a chronometer Commander, that is a real good price.

I don't know what is wrong with Mido, but I don't like the brand, it might be the name ("I measure" in Spanish... and I live in Mexico) and the horrible typography. But I've seen they are not as popular as other brands, and i know they are good quality.

That is an exceptional price... However, my fiancee thinks it is really ugly.
    (I like it though...)

Here is the best piece of advice I can give you. Don't listen to your fiance, my wife can't tell if she likes a watch or not until it is on my wrist. So I just buy them and show them to her when they arrive.

Here is a pic of my commander on a watchadoo, it is a great watch.

    Hi mate

Could I give a couple of opinions here - first of all, on the Oris suggestions above, I wear a BC3, have had it for 4 or 5 years, and its awesome. Couldnt recommend it more.

Specifically a dress watch, I stumbed upon a brand called Tourby the other day. Their prices are very reasonable, and their finishes look great.

If you like hand wind, have a look at this Tourby Enamel - A1b Decorated

And for automatic, this is a limited edition - Tourby Open Heart Black

    cheers
