Best flieger to buy within $450? Under 40mm

I don’t wear watches over 40mm much. Let’s see if there’s many choices out there. A name on dial would be better but not very important. I prefer the laco 39mm but the lume on that is greenish, different than most fliegers. I think that’s a turn off. Suggestions?

If Dekla makes one under 40, that's the way to go.

The Laco Augsburg Blau Stunde does not have the green-ish lume that concerns you.

Laco all the way. Not only are they really nice watches but also one of the “original 5” and much less expensive then any of the other 4

Flieger under 40mm does not compute. The original B-Uhr was 55mm.

Gee, that makes sense--because the original model, some 75 years ago, was really big and designed to be used by actual pilots in equally ancient and forbidding planes, the OP should simply ignore the fact that the flieger has evolved over the course of history to the present, where there is a wide range of sizes and styles designed to fit all wrists and tastes?

At your price point and size limit, my vote would be for the Laco, as well, several more beyond the blue Ausburg that don't have the greenish lume that you're worried about--if you expand up to the more traditional 44mm size, there is a huge number of alternatives, such as the TC-9--cheap, well-made, great looking and accurate.

I wanted the look of an IWC but at a more affordable price.

Laco. I'm sure a reputable dealer can help you out if you email them and ask which models don't have the greenish lume.

The blue Laco is really a very nice watch. If you can handle 40mm, take a look at the Tisell pilot. It gets great reviews and at $209 shipped it’s a very good value. I just received one and I am quite impressed by it.
