    The best watch forever?

    Hi, I am new here.
I have resently developed a great interest for watches. Just bought a very nice 1957 Omega Seamaster in mint condition. But I need more watches. I am searching for the perfect everyday watch.
I want a stainless steel bracelet and housing and saphire crystal.I want an accurate watch that goes on for ever. So I know I will not want a quartz watch, I was sure about an automatic like the Tissot PRC200, but have started to get interested in the kinetic watches. Are they as durable? I read that they last about 10 years and then need to change parts, is that right? Is automatic the only way to go? I know they will need service, but that will be at MY will whan I choose - I do not want a watch who "dies" on me and start slowing down because of bad batteries or worn out parts.
What is the best watch forever?

Servicing a mechanical watch is supposed to be done at regular intervals. Fail to do so and it will run irregularly and potentially break.

Might be inconvenient in a watch, but it would run forever in these parts!

Welcome to the WUS Forum, I hope you enjoy it here and feel free to ask questions. While several responses were "tongue-in-cheek" the core of the response is accurate. There isn't a "forever" watch, but if you take care of a mechanical i.e, handwind or automatic, they will last generations. A quartz will need batteries and if neglected the battery could leak and ruin the watch. Not a frequent occurance, but it could happen. Seiko Kinetic and Citizen Ecodrive use motion and light respectively to charge a battery in the watch, but they are still quartz regulated. Any well made mechanical will give you many years of service. Just look around here for a while and you'll see many different styles and lfind out what appeals to you.

    Re: The best watch forever?

I've had a Citizen Eco-Drive for 15 years and all I have had to do is change the date occasionally. But that is nowhere near "forever".
