    "Big" purchase of the year?

Which is going to be your biggest/most anticipated purchase of the year? Have you planned it for your birthday/graduation/raise or promotion/anniversary/other event (from tax refund, for eg.)/from (or to) SO/something else? Else, do you anticipate an unplanned seat-of-the-pants purchase/bid event?

My PO was pretty big. And still is. That was huge anticipation. I call that the promotion / turning 30 / b-day present. The AT was up there too.

The next anticipated (So far ) will likely be the Zenith Class Elite Moonphase Grande Date. This will be a graduation present to myself. I will have my MBA completed first week of May.

(And stop trying to talk me into the plain dial Zenith before I reconsider )

I am sure you will find many members who tie purchases to events. But mostly they will create their own event, as I have done many times. For example, the sun came up today, I am going to get that.

Haha ... congrats on the MBA! I'm planning an AT (cal. 8500) when I get my PhD, but that's almost 2 years of a wait ... thinking of an Ebel 137 chrono for my birthday.

Not that I need a reason to buy a watch ... haha. Hopefully not much else in the next couple of years ... might get a retro-looking Seiko as a daily beater, not sure when. But, I'm definitely slowing down, might even flip 3 or 4 of mine.

I think I'm the prototypical WIS ... I've barely spent anything on clothes and other essentials the last 2 to 3 years, I'd rather buy watches

I would love to purchase one of these by the year's end: Sinn U1, MM300, or a doxa...there are a few but those are the tops for me.

Re: "Big" purchase of the year?

Well, seeing as how my wife was given one day's notice that her salary was being cut by 30%, I'd say big puchases are on hold for a while. The little amount that I had budgeted to save each month toward watch purchases and the like is now at zero. I've got some saved up, and I guess I'm in a holding pattern for now.
I'm debating giving up watch purchases entirely, until I've saved enough for one of my two grails. But at this rate I think I'll be dead by the time I've done it.
