    Black Tie Masquerade Ball Watch

So, I'll be going to a masquerade ball in a couple of weeks. This is a ball that's held every year around this time that my wife and I attend.

Usually, I go for a dressy watch with a "bright" pocket square that matches my mask, but otherwise adhering to the rules. The watch is always my RW Maestro on a black strap because it was a gift from my wife for our wedding, and we've been going to the ball every year together (and it is at our alma mater).

However, I'm rethinking this approach for this year's ball, especially because the dress code went from Black Tie optional to Black tie mandatory. So, that reduces the amount of peacocking that I can do at a black tie event. I am really tempted to go with my RW (or one of my other watches) on a colorful strap matching my masquerade mask instead.

Or - shudder - wear a color NATO strap matching the mask. Of course, I'm yet to decide upon a mask, but I'm looking at something like this, this, or this - but that too would depend on my wife's outfit. The good news here, of course, is that I can always reuse the strap for the next year's ball.

Or should I just go conservative all around, and stick to a simple black leather strap? Thoughts?

Screw the man, man. Go wild. Wear a red rubber strap or something. On an Invicta.

But for serious, I imagine a blue leather strap or something would be fine.

Match the band to the mask.

I always wear a Gold mask, with black Rhinestones, and black Feathers.

I love masquerades. Nobody recognises me if I behave like a pig.

My masquerade mask is a bit like Janne's - it is black and gold.
I teamed it up with my Sea-Touch (on orange rubber) - No one notices!

    cheers,
    Jake.

Metlin you are slipping! That you would even suggest wearing a Nato strap to a black tie ball.... You need to leave the forums for some soul searching- put some distance between you and the riff-raff, maybe open up the bottle of Pinot Noir you've been saving and rediscover the inner snob ;)

In all seriousness I would probably stick to a black strap because there will be plenty of color in whichever mask you choose. And, out of the three masks you posted, I would veer away from the dragon goggle ones because they cover the eyes completely. Anyways, have fun :D

I usually try to avoid gold because my wedding ring is platinum, so everything else is white gold or stainless steel. And unfortunately, I cannot change the wedding band without changing the wife.

So, no difference in behavior then.

M, get better masks! The 2nd one in particular is... "so gay"* as teenagers say these days.
But if you must, my vote goes to #3. But perhaps you could get someone to spray paint around the edges.
Oh, and screw the Man. Really. What's the point of going incognito?
Wear THAT watch you've always been afraid to wear, but was always curious about. :)

Well, in order to complete the outfit, I will need a jester mask. And a tail. Don't ask me.

But in all seriousness, I do like the idea of a dark blue strap.

I'm not sure I could wear a non-dress watch, or rubber for that matter, but I would like to be adventurous with the strap color.

Although, I could always wear an Hermès-esque orange colored leather strap and find a lion/fire mask.
