Blast from the past—Pulsar (titanium solar) I wore 25+ years ago

I was going through old stuff and found this watch I wore 25+ years ago. It was pretty cool for its time. Titanium case and bracelet, and solar-powered!

It was obviously dead when I found it. But I put it in sunlight in the window sill and it came to life.

Its style is very much early '90s!

So for those wondering if solar can last that long...yes!

Anyone else have stories of old watches they used to wear?

Nice watch ! Still kept in good condition. Interesting you can tell it's designed in the 90s straight away.

Very nice gents, here's my try, yes it's all true, graduated in 72' started flipping burgers, and worked on... Apartment and roommates.. Girls, you know the story, anyway James Bond movies got a big restart with Roger Moore and Paul Mccarthy, so long story short, I bought a brand new Pulsar led digital watch, yep that one, I can't believe I still have it and it still works! The price was equivalent to a Rolex! In the hundreds! Can you believe that! That is my story and I'm sticking to it!

Solar tech has been around for nearly 4 decades, so I don't see why a 25yo solar watch wouldn't work. The problem (if any) is that how good the capacitor is, maybe after 25yo it can only store like 30%~40% its original capacity. It means that you have to expose the watch to the sunlight more frequently to keep it running.

The design of the watch looks 25 years old but not the condition.

A guy at my work knew I was into watches and he kept telling me " I have an old quartz watch from when I was young, I'll bring it to you so you can check it out".

He eventually brought it to me, it was an old Casio digital watch. I remember checking the model version and it was released the year before the original 1983 G-Shock, it looked a lot like the famous square G we all know but a bit thinner and in an all-steel casing.

I took the watch and unscrewed the case back, everything was in NOS condition. It made a "pop" when the caseback got unscrewed and everything looked new inside, no leak at all. It used a weird lithium battery size, I remember having to get one at an electronic speciality store.

It came back to life instantly and I thought about purchasing it from him but changed my mind, since it was a gift from his now deceased mom when he graduated from college.

These Casios are tough watches for sure!

EDIT: It looked a lot like the pic I added.
