The lume needs to be charged with light. Put it in direct sunlight for a few seconds and then go to the bathroom and turn the light off. It will glow bright for a few minutes and fade slowly. It will still be readable throughout the night.
stick in in the microwave for few seconds - should charge up nicely.
/ok, don't do that
UV flashlight will charge it fastest, Solar on a sunny day is next best thing. Regular incadescent light will provide some charge, but little (fluorescent a bit better, but still weak). UV or natural light are the best for charging lume.
No it's real sadly. Note the shocking carpet on all the photos!! Don't understand why my lume note working. I turned off all the lights in the lounge to show my girlfriend and all I get is blackness. I have't worn my BLNR outside yet as my parents don't know I've bought it yet. So I've been wearing the Speedy Pro outside.
Something's definitely wrong with it. You may have to open it up and smack it against a hard surface. Then it should light up like a Christmas tree. Very similar to how those glow sticks work.
Probably one bad marker on your dial. Find the troubled one, replace it, and the rest should light up. Had the same problem with my Christmas tree last year.
This is a new one for me. I have one of those original Swiss Army watches with the red bezel band........... a gift in 1993 I think, the luminous markers and hands still are working. They aren't as bright as they were 23 years ago but working none the less. Allow me to suggest a Ball Fireman to the OP, that tritium stuff is the bomb
You have a few years, but you might want to set up a tritium vial replacement program for when all those vials go dead. Somebody is going to get rich off all that repair work.
How could you spend 6,000 pounds on a watch and not know how lume works?!?!?!?!
Reading this thread almost makes me want to return my recently purchased BLNR. I am already worried about being labeled a Rolex turd and these types of owners make it hard for those of us who actually appreciate watches to avoid the stereotype.
It it must be a joke. Asking why the Lume doesn't work is equivalent to asking why my watch stopped after not wearing it for 3 days.
When I stopped caring what other's perception of me wearing a Rolex was, my appreciation and enjoyment of the watch came to fruition. I stopped caring what others think because no one around me notices my watches.

If after just wearing it you can't see any trace of lume, then there is something wrong. Even the slightest exposure to light will charge the lume slightly. Where did you buy it?
I want to play! How about top three reasons the lume doesn't glow:
1) Luminova warranty has expired; Rolex will refuse to service it now and you will never again know the time between dusk and dawn.
2) It's actually a Grand Seiko.
3) Rolex lume only works if the owner if of the right breeding; you obviously are not.
it seems to be working better now. I took it outside. Must be charged by sunlight/UV rather than just indoors lights.
I purchased the Speedmaster last year as I had paid off my University student loans a year (possibly 2) early. I was and remain a big fan of the Apollo program and though it would be cool to have the same watch that was worn on the moon. I purchased the Rolex this year as my I had always wanted one since my father purchased one when I was 11. I didn't want a sub as they are too common. My friend had the normal GMT and I liked it but didn't want the exact same watch. I didn't have enough cash to buy a Pepsi GMT so I plumped for the BLNR. I refuse to buy a watch on credit. The plan is 2018 = Green Sub 2025 = Pepsi GMT. Hopefully a couple of Omega's in between.
I suggest watching Gold Finger to see how Bond got his lume to work. I assume you haven't seen it yet or you would have your lume lighting up now. He will also show you how to mix Martini by shaken it instead of stirring it. And it's one of the best Bond films ever starring Sean Connery who doesn't bury himself in a character by constantly pronouncing himself as Sin-Jun Smyth.
Dont listen to these guys. If you want a watch with torch like lume, I'll trade you my OM straight up for your broken watch
