    Broke WIS Problems

So my childhood best friend calls me up last night and tells me he is in the area if I want to meet him and hang out. Some time into the conversation he inquires about my Nissan Skyline and I tell him it has fallen into disrepair and lacks about $6,000 to get it back to showroom status, but that I have really gotten into watches and am saving to buy my first really nice watch for about $1,300 before I fix the car back up. He responds that he had gotten into watches for a minute and when I ask the brands he says Fossil, Michael Kors, Citizen, and a few Tags.

    -reenactment-

    "Tag Heuer?"
    "No just Tag."
"Tag... that doesn't make sense... are you wearing one"
    "Yeah"
"Does it say H-E-U-E-R under Tag" *voice starting to raise a little*
    *pause* "Oh, yeah it does!"
*almost yelling* "How many is a few?"
    "Four"
*definitely yelling* "Four?!?!? How did you get four?!?!?!?"
"My dad bought them for me"
    *quiet and demoralized* "Oh....."

I love my friend to death, he was a big and great part of my life growing up, but really? To have four Tags and not even know what you have... later in the conversation I tried to get the models out of him and he couldn't tell me so I will be finding out tomorrow night when I see him. I work 60 hours a week over 6 days and it will take/is taking me roughly 26 weeks to put together the $1,300 to buy my first decent piece and then I find my friend has received 4 Tags since I saw him two years ago and doesn't really know/care what he has. Those are my broke WAS problems.

    Thanks for reading my rant,

    Zach

Life is inherently unfair but we all get through it. You'll enjoy your watch all the more for having truly earned it.

Trust me, the imbalance will be more than made up for by how much more you appreciate and enjoy the watches you EARNED.

You are both right. I have been caught up in moping about it since the conversation and never really thought it through.

You are right, and they are probably just quartz, but I am looking more at monetary value than whether it is something I would have. However, if it is a cal. 1887 or the new flyback chrono (cal. 36???) I may kill him and take it home with me.
