    Brown watch with black shirt?

I've heard that mixing the colors brown and black is a major taboo. Now, I'm not disputing the fact, but would like to hear more about it if true.

Can I wear a brown watch with a black shirt?

A brown dialed Zenith goes with any shirt.

You would almost certainly be dragged off by the fashion police, have your watch confiscated and pay a large fine for your crime.

I think many take accessorising far too seriously; I never consider my watch in relation to the clothes I'm wearing on any particular day.

You shouldn't be wearing a black shirt at all. Unless you're a waiter, in which case it's quite alright.

I think a black shirt in a casual setting is ok ... night out/clubbing, etc. In that case, almost any color watch would go with the black shirt, even bright colors.

Agree with Metlin. You do not look as good as you think you do when you wear a black shirt. Apply this Fedora meme by analogy to a black shirt:

I wear a black t-shirt with brown shoes. No one says anything. And they better NOT.

In my youth, a long time ago now, I wore a Fedora for a few months.

The police used to drive past me very slowly looking for the drugs.

I've come to realize that I'm a fashion disaster.

But luckily nobody can see how bad one looks over the internet!

Black shirts aren't easy anyway, as Metlin says. If you are not 100% sure what you are doing, you might end up looking like a waiter or a pimp or Berlusconi. LOL!

That said, I would say, if you know what you're doing a brown watch, particularly one with a brown strap can look alright. The watch that Mike posted is wonderful and one of the few cases IMHO where a brown dial looks good with a black strap. The other way, black dial with brown strap, is a little easier to manage but still problematic.

BTW, the same thing is said about blue and black. Careful how you combine it. Can look really good but can also go terribly wrong.
