Buying watches: business case for the wife

I changed tactics from trying to explain why I WANT a watch () to justifying that I actually really NEED it . I have tried to represent this graphically for her to comprehend and hopefully approve the much needed release of funds,

Imagine your surprise if you emailed her your matrix and she just replied with:

    Hi dear

Great idea. Just don't show MY wife. I would have to fill in another 7 rows in that spreadsheet!

If I showed that to my wife she'd respond with a grid of her own, only it would contain purses instead. I'm not sure if I'm ready for that kind of Russian roulette.

This is a great plan! I like the idea! My wife has just consented in principle to my eventually getting a Rolex... Perhaps visual representation is the way to go here, who knows what is possible...

This is a great pitch for men but I feel like my wife would prefer a gift over a business style pitch.

I love your graphic. What a great way to visually show someone why you have the watches you do (or why you need more... LOL). You have inspired me to create my own, slightly modified chart of my current collection, with slightly revised categories.

I'm lucky I have a wife who doesn't give me grief when I want a new watch. She just shrugs her shoulders and rolls her eyes... then I go buy a watch.

Just getting started on my chart now, but here's the first two (the activity pic on the upper right is actually me).

Re: Buying watches: business case for the wife

My wife would just tell me to wear either of the current watches with casual clothes and go without a watch for formal clothes. Total spent = $0, and she'd probably still want a new purse.
