C3 Luminova Versus BWG9 Luminova? Which is better?

I'm currently trying to educate myself on Luminova's, I know C1 is stark white rather weak, but sometimes good lume... But Now I'm trying to find out about BWG9 and C3... Anyone here have experience with either of them?

I have had both. C3 is the brightest. Some watchmakers choose BGW9 because it is whiter.

I wonder why is C1 still being produced now that BGW9 is in. Is it cost-saving or what?

You have a very good question. I had never seen that bar graph before, while I knew it was less effective, I did not realize C1 is only 33% as bright as C3.

I wish I could see watches with the unusual colors of lume. All I ever see is green, sometimes white. Red or blue would be especially cool.

I call BS on that, the rankings might be correct but BG W9 is at best 50% as bright as C3, nowhere near 95%. Unless they've mentioned it's a logarithmic scale somewhere in fine print.

Note the "30 minutes." C3 absolutely ignites but fades off while BGW9 doesn't glow nuclear but maintains it's release steadily.

After squinting my eyes on the diagram really hard, I realise you're right about the chart. However, I've owned two nearly identical Oris Divers, one with C3 and the other with BGW9 and noticed the BGW9 fades just as fast. Similarly, after 5 hours of sleeping I've found C3's to be far more readable.

Experiences may differ. Anyone care to chime in on this issue?

I think it applies on my sbbn033 and sbbn007.

C3 is a tiny bit brighter, but it comes at the cost of having yellowish color to the lume

    BGW9 just looks white
