Career watches for police officers (not GShock)

    Hello,

Putting on the uniform and after a career watch which isn't a GShock!
Girlfriend wants to buy me patrol watch for my 30th so I want to last as it will hold sentimental value!

I'm close to getting a Marathon Navigator, but due to its plastic case, concerned it won't see our my career! (Although I could rotate)

Just interested to see options of those both working within police and those who work in physical demanding environment.

    (Looking between £200-250 range)

    Thanks for your time!

The Navigator uses what they (Marathon) call fibreshell rather than plastic and it’s reckoned to be really tough. If you do get it smashed you can get it changed by your local Marathon dealer.

I've known cops that have worn a Rolex,Guess,Fossil and Luminox. Unless you're Steve McGarrett you should be OK with just about anything in your range.

Scurfa watches would be a good option for you-- just released a new blue dial model too. Good sized with a sapphire crystal and quartz movement that can pretty much withstand anything you can give it. Plus I believe they're a UK-based company too.

How about a CWC royal navy diver in quartz. Good movement, tough, classic military look. On a nato it'll be practical for a police officer.

I'm just going to jump in here and say this is not good advice. No offense intended to the poster, but experience has shown me it would be a bad idea to wear an expensive watch in the beginning of your career.

One of the great things about our watch fascination is that you can get an amazing watch that will fly under most people's radar. As a new police officer, you will have many people above you watching you. Wearing an obviously expensive watch will draw unwanted attention, and some people might perceive you as thinking you are better than other policemen. This is the last thing you want.

Once you have been on your department for a few years and you have established a reputation, then you could go for wearing a more expensive watch. But until then, the idea is not to portray yourself as an outsider in a negative way.

I have also served in the military, and I would give the same advice to someone joining the Army. Military and law enforcement are brotherhoods and sisterhoods, and people want to feel like the others they serve with are like them, at least in the ways that are important. Once you are established, then you can show off some of your flair.

I think it is going to be hard to beat the Marathon Navigator in your budget. That's a really nice watch in my opinion. You could go for a Luminox Navy Seal but I think they are mediocre quality.

In my opinion a Black Seiko BFK would be perfect for the job. It's all metal and semi traditional. It's high tech and accurate. And its tactical black and looks really cool.
