    Cheap Watches

I need to get a knock around watch, something to wear when I don't want to take a chance on wearing one of my good ones for fear of damage. My tastes run toward plain, vintage styles. I've read some horrendous reviews on Amazon about Skagen and Daniel Wellington. Stylistically, they both appeal to me but now I'm afraid to pull the trigger. Do any of you have any experience with these 2 brands? Any other suggestions?

Timex weekender would be a better choice imo

I have a Skagen; the crystal exploded on a light bump. Wellington's marketing makes my teeth grind.

Check street prices on Citizen or Seiko solar first.

Had a Skagen which I gave to my son-in-law as I wasn't wearing it--he has used and loved it for the last several years--besides Timex, I would consider just about any Citizen Eco-Drive, most any Seiko ( I have a couple of "retrograde" Seiko that look and run great and can be used in any adverse or normal conditions), wouldn't give a Wellington the time of day for many reasons--literally thousands of choices for what you want to do.

Weekender is very nice for the money.

    But not the toughest.
Depending on what you are planning on doing while wearing.

For the price of a Skagen you can get 3 Easy Readers
    Casio Edifice
    Casio Illuminator
    Any Timex with SS case

Hmm, you say "knock around," but the 2 brands you name are more associated with dress watches, are they not? Maybe it's just the ones I've seen.

In any case, yes, any Seiko 5, Citizen, Timex, or Orient will be a better watch than either of the ones you named.

What exactly do you mean by "cheap"? It is kind of a subjective term especially when talking about watches...

Since you like plain, vintage watches, maybe this Vostok Classica? $150-165 with free shipping. Hand-winding, 39mm SS case.
