    Close call

Getting ready to pack it in and call it a day last night.

Carrying the Sub to put on my dresser and...

Got some screw tightening on the agenda for today.

Phew, that was close! Maybe a tiny bit of loctite or clear finger nail polish on the screw threads as well?

    Re: Close call

That's scary when something like that happens. I had a spring bar pop off once on a watch. I had used different spring bars and it turned out they were too fat for the holes and I didn't realize it until too late. Luckily it happened in my office while I was leaning down to get something off of my carpeted floor so it only feel from about 6 inches onto carpet but it made me think about what could have happened if it had been from higher up onto a hard floor. Thus began my brief fling with NATO straps.

I broke out in a cold sweat just looking at the photo.

I HATE screws. On two different watches I've looked down and saw a screw head missing. It was terrifying!

I do too - but this appears to happen more on the newer Rolex design bracelet than the older one.

    Re: Close call

From all the talk in another thread, I wouldn't have expected that out of a Rolex. But then, I tend to think this stuff can happen to any brand. Glad disaster was averted. That would really stink if it took a fall.

My bracelet sizing ritual for any watch with screws is using Loctite 222 on EVERY screw on the bracelet. It started after I looked down at my Vachron Overseas and there was a screw sticking out about 1/8". It takes some time but it is cheap insurance.
