which COLOR FACE is the most versatile?

i want to buy a watch with bracelet but also buy a few leather straps in black and brown to change up the look a little.

which color face would accommodate this the best?

No big mystery here. It has to be black.

Just black. Black fits to everything else.

Just to liven it up here - white wears well, can handle any strap color, and can be dressier when done right.

Black is good, but I'd say cream or tan might be somewhat more versatile.

You do realize that you'll quickly tire of changing straps and come to develop a watch wardrobe like the rest of us...

Black and cream will fit every black or brown strap.

    White!

I don't like black with a blue shirt but white seem to work for me and works on other colours, but that's just me!

Well, black is the most legible and quickly read. White is more "dressy" IMO and looks good with brown straps. Blue is very legible but limits color selection of your attire. I have all of the above and have found one color that seems to go well with most anything and that one is "slate". Below are a few shots of that watch taken this year after I received it from my wife for my 60th birthday. She is the one who suggested this color and I'm happy she did.
    Cheers,
