If you thought Hermes was all about silk scarves and costly leather accessories, think again. They are equally well known for creating impeccably fine watches. The Cape Cod GMT is a good example. An ideal travel watch it’s equipped with a mechanical self-winding movement with a power reserve of 42 hours.
The watch features an additional module which displays a second time zone as well as a double window large date. Once the destination chosen, this model serves to display local time as well as a second time zone, complete with the corresponding day/night indication shown on a two-tone disc.
The decoration of the movement includes circular-grained mainplate, circular-grained and snailed bridges and snailed oscillating weight with “Côtes de Genève” motif and “Hermès Paris” engraving.
The rectangular steel model comes with a silvered or blue dial and applied Arabic numerals curved to reflect the curve of the case. It is worn either on a matt havana alligator strap (for the silvered dial model) or indigo blue alligator strap, equipped with a 20 mm safety folding clasp in steel.
