Ball-Athon II: Four rounds to determine the all around Ball knowedge champion of 2011. First place is a Fireman Victory
For the second year in a row:
On Saturday December 17th at 5PM PST, we will kick off the second annual Ball-Athon event. As in last year’s event it will be made of four rounds. Two will held before Christmas and two will held the week after Christmas. The Ball-Athon is unique in many ways from our other contests. First, there is nothing subjective. Accuracy and Speed are what score points in each round. Each round is consisted of questions that have an objectively true answer. The top 10 in each round will score points based on the scoring system below. The highest number of correct answers submitted first gets first place. The other nine positions will be determined in the same fashion. Does the contest reward the speedy or the diligent? The answer, Yes! It is possible to get 100% in each contest, but some questions are very difficult. Will you take the time to research or will you guess? The person who submits his answers five minutes into a round but misses one question, will place behind the person who submits with five minutes left in a round but gets them all right. While the contest will start at the end of the work week "5PM PST" it is designed so that anyone in any location of the world will be able to get a good point score in any round no matter their work schedule. Last year very few scores resulted in 100% from any round last year, and while no one can predict how this years scores will go, we tried to make this years contest even harder. So if you won't have time to sit down and give round 1 a good effort until Sunday the 19th, we've tried to design a contest where you can still sit down with it and get an excellent score, if not win the round outright.
We’ve added a few new twists in each round from last year so while it will be similar to last year's contest, it will still be a new contest with a new flow. One of the events is brand new and replaces the Word Find which was our least favorite round. Each round will be open for 72 hours. The second round will be posted 24 hours after the close of the first round. All submissions will be PMed to our cherished mod samanator. The server time stamp on the PM will be used to determine official entry time.
