It can be done, but I'll warn you: a lot of the guys who get the 500M rep remove the cyclops. So be careful about doing that if you ever want to resell it.

Well, if it's anything like the Orient/Invicta cyclops, it was pretty quick and easy. Just use a torch lighter right on the cyclops until you see a smoky white film appear between the cyclops and the glass/crystal, then just pop it off. Remove the residue with some sort of cleaner or elbow grease and you're golden.

That said, no matter how easy it seems, I will never try that on a watch that costs upwards of $500.

I'd consider getting it done professionally and not risk doing any permanent damage.

Here's a pic of mine, removal wasn't hard and no ill effects to the watch. I've seen several how-to threads concerning cyclops removal, you should be able to do a search and find one, just be careful and take it slow and easy.

Re: Cyclops removal on a Tag 500m?!?

There are a number of instructional videos on YouTube on how to do this.

Just type in "cyclops removal, or watch crystal cyclops removal" and you will get a number of how-to-do vids.

Pretty easy on most (but not all models), but you need to use the correct tools and use care. I have done it five times with no issues.

If still not sure you want to try it, have a jeweler do it. Should not cost more than $25-50.
