Daily Diver Purchase...Used Oris TT1 or new Steinhart Ocean???

Hey Guys...What's your opinion on a used Oris TT1 300m diver vs. Steinhart Ocean (maybe OVM, maybe OVG).

This is not an aesthetic question/issue, but a question of ownership experiences/wearablility/etc.

I'm looking at an out of pocket cost of $400-500.

There is of course the possibility of used Steinharts as well...with the possible additional small savings there.

The Oris is black/black on bracelet and physically/aesthetically in good shape.

There are several used OVMs on the forums right now.

The OVM and OVG are in stock at Steinhart.

    Thoughts???

    TIA
    -Mark

The Steinharts will have a flatter and more comfortable shape due to the case size. Also ease of service using a basic ETA movement. The Oris bracelet may be nicer, and the watch overall slightly higher quality. But also has not strap or bracelet changeability (except original Oris rubber).

I have no expereince with Oris, but a good friend of mine has an OVM and it's an excellent watch! I want a Steinhart vintage GMT for myself.

If you like the look of the TT1, Oris all the way. The watch dials are finished to higher level and the bracelets are typically superb when compared to most at the same price point or below. Plus, the Steinhart is a homage. I would not like to wear a veiled copy of another watch to remind me of what I do not own when I could buy a nice watch in its own right with a style all its own.

I understand the homage thing, for sure...but...there is very little chance that I will ever own a '71-'73 Explorer II with the orange hand!

Hi. I have the Steinhart Ocean One. I absolutely love this watch. Accuracy is excellent and you would be very very hard pressed to find a new watch of this quality at this price point.

I'm always banging the Oris drum but looking at it with a dispassionate eye I would go for the Oris as it is much better made than the Steiny.

I'm with the Oris Bandwagon, after owning two and handling several Steinharts. And WIS that I am, besides the quality factor I'm always considering resale value, where Oris wins on both considering your price point.

I'm sorry but what'S OVM or OVG?
And doesn't aesthetics lead directly to the ownership experience of a watch?

Oris all the way. Quality is WAY better. And it's an original design of it's own, not a copy.

I've been very pleased with my steinharts. I'd probably take the OVM over the oris.
