The Date on high end watches????? WHY?

    Hello,
I'm new here and after searching high and low a watch that defines me, decided to purchase a Maurice Lacroix squelette.

During my search, I noticed that MANY high end watches have the little box with a date. Much like my Seiko. Love the Seiko but HATE the date feature.
The Seiko is a quartz watch and it is very very accurate. But the date feature kills the watch completely, in my opinion.

Here is why. Not all months are numbered the same. So at the end of just about every month, the date feature is de-railed and one has to re-adjust to get the proper date.
My question here is , " Why in the world would this feature be on watches costing over $5000.00 and more?????????????????????

Or has some Miracle taken place where this was addressed and corrected?
The above is why I despise watches with a date feature n them.

    thanks guys.

Probably should add a watch winder to the mix in order to maintain this feature. Otherwise it's kind of pointless.

I prefer a date feature as I use mine fairly frequently. Taking the extra 7 seconds every other month to adjust the date is of minimal consequence. If this is how you feel about a relatively minor issue you may want to stay away from mechanical watches altogether. If a bimonthly adjustment is an issue imagine having to wind a watch daily. EEEEK!

Rich people still need to know the date.

So you're complaining about having to adjust the date half a dozen times each year? You definitely shouldn't wear a watch. If you must, get an atomic G-shock

IMHO I have never had any problem with a date function, it is usually out of the way and not super intrusive on the dial....and it's actually one of the few watch complications that is actually useful in everyone's life

    Or one of these:

OCW-S100 is 40mm all titanium, sapphire, solar, atomic, perpetual calendar, 32 time zones (very subtle, almost hidden, around the chapter ring), Made in Japan.

It's an odd complaint especially when you'll probably have to set any mechanical watch more often than this because the time has drifted away from being accurate.

Ever thought why not all watches over $5,000 aren't quartz due to this, OP?
