Question Day date or Perpetual Calendar: AP, Patek, Mbf or Lange

    Hi, guys.

New to watchuseek because of the increasing interest of watches. Would like to communicate to all of u. my first watch is Ulysse Nardin. almost 6 years old, sevice twice. it is a good watch, but now old.

    1. The process of choosing a new watch is hard. Firstly, want a rolex day date. the rose gold and yellow gold are perfect, but I heard that both rose gold and yellow gold are 18k, and the color will fading, is it for sure?

    2. Then, went trying dd platinum. It is ok but heavy. So looking for other brands never heard before. 4 watches are looking perfect on my wrist. They are AP Royal Oak perpetual calendar with the new 5134 movement. Patek 5496P. Lange 1815 rattrapante perpetual and mbf lm perpetual. These 4 are vary in price, for sure. especially lange. Don't really know about the four brands. So, if choose from these four perpetual, which one is more reliable on the toughness and quality?

    Cheers

If you want toughness I can only speak of what I know. My Rolex and I have been through thick and thin together with only one blip in 20 odd years so go for the DD.

Rolex rose gold is referred to as "everose" as it will not fade over time. Both rose and yellow gold will patina after several years but polish will bring them right back to new.

I’ve got a TT DJ (now retired) that I wore for 20+ years and now drive a TT Daytona. The yellow gold hasn’t faded and I can’t imagine rose doing it either.
