What exactly defines a "Watch Nerd"?
What defines one as being "Haute-in Horology"?
What defines .."Poser"?
Finally, what defines ....you?

Watch nerd: same as any other kind of nerd: someone who's passionate about a pastime that most normal people would think is weird or eclectic.
Haute Horology: paying significantly more money for provenance and hand-finishing...and being happy that you did.
Poseur: Doesn't really apply to watches. Oh sure, there are people who buy watches to be seen with a status symbol who have otherwise no interest in watches (or worse, will spend good money buying a fake for the same purpose), but those aren't watch people.
Me: An idiot aspiring to be merely a moron some day.

"Nerd" is from the mind of Dr. Seuss, the name for an imaginary animal in "If I Ran the Zoo". I still make mental analogies from the pages of that book; it was a childhood favorite. What the term has to do with watches or collectors is beyond me.
Hack a wife's watch, keep her happy for a week, teach her to hack her own watch, keep her happy for life!
Wife replies: ...teach her to hack her own watch, she doesn't need you anymore! 8^o
