Did I just mess up my watch?

Before I get started, I sometimes overreact to the littlest things. I am obsessive over things like scratches and when something isn't working perfectly. I haven't posted on this forum in 2 years (I am more of a observer than someone who takes an active role), but I have been lurking off and on.

The main reason I am asking is because I am not too familiar with the mechanics of how a watch runs (only the very basics) and I want to make sure it's ok.

Now that the intro is out of the way, here we go! I haven't gotten a watch in a while and I just got a new watch today which I am really excited about. I got it on sale. I don't have an immense budget since, and for the price it was a good buy due to being on sale for 40% off. It is a Victorinox Maverick. I decided to fix the time and date, which I just did. I noticed that the date changes 5-10 minutes before midnight. I decided that it might be a good idea to read the manual (which I don't normally do). It says that I wasn't supposed to change the date between 9 pm and 3 am, but I did at about 11 pm.
By doing this and changing the date (multiple times because it was way off), did I just ruin the watch?

I know this might seem like a dumb question, but I like, whenever I buy something new, it to be in pristine condition.

    Thanks!

I'm assuming this is a quartz piece? It should be fine. Pull the crown out and run it forward a few days (not the date but the actual hour/minutes). if everything changes (ie, the date changes at the time is normally does... around midnight at not 5 or 6) as it should, then you'll most likely be fine.

From my experience, the watch should be okay. Habitually breaking this rule will have a negative on the watch.
Not sure why the date would change 5-10 minutes before midnight, you may want to ask someone with knowledge about that.
    Congrats on the new watch.

I just ran the date (using hour and minute hands) forward a couple of days. It changes at 11:54 each time without fail. Also, it is a Quartz watch.

    Thanks again for the help!

Good thing to read the manual. You should be ok on the late date change, just don't make a habit of it. Follow the manual instructions in the future.

Keep an eye on the date for a few days, just to check it for proper mechanics.

Ok! Thanks! Should it be of concern that it doesn't change at midnight?

Na, a few minutes either way is common. Some Seiko don't finish changing day/date until after 3am.

No .... no harm to the watch, but next time get your Mom and Dad to help if you are inclined not to read the instructions.
