    Dilemma on milestone purchase (Tudor)

    Hey guys, some advice needed.

Now, this will not be answerable by anyone but me in the end, but maybe some of you have faced similar decisions and could share your thought processes.

I’d like to buy a new watch whilst on honeymoon this summer to commemorate the occasion and know I want a Tudor diver. The BB58 or a blue BB or Pelagos are top of the list. The dilemma is that the watch I really want is a BB58 blue, which doesn’t exist but I’m sure it will come in the next couple of years.

Normally I’d be happy to wait, or buy another Tudor in the interim to eventually sell, however I won’t want to sell something bought to mark a special occasion.

Do I buy something on honeymoon and hope the sentimental attachment is enough to stop me wanting a future BB58 blue (I won’t own both)?

Should I put a nominal deposit on a future BB58 blue whilst on honeymoon and convince myself that it’s a commemorative purchase doing it that way?

    Thoughts, advice etc please!

Great Q and something I've been faced with recently. Short answer is I don't know. :)

The longer answer is I'd pick something you really like that commemorates the moment. If it were me, and it was for a recent milestone, I picked a watch I really liked - but what made it special was that my wife had it engraved and it marked a moment in time I will always remember. It's not so much the watch, but the moment.

I'd go with the regular BB58 or, if you really love blue, the blue Pelagos. I'm a big fan of the latter.

I wouldn’t settle. I’d wait it out. Unless you get the watch you want then you will most likely never be totally happy with it. Maybe buy it for your anniversary (if the watch is indeed released) and if not then buy something else you will be happy with at that point

From my experience, the Black Bay with the blue bezel is quite versatile.
The bracelet, leather and fabric strap all feel good and serve their purpose for different settings i.e. beach, casual, formal.

I would hold and get what you really want...

The Pelagos and BB sit too high on the wrist and are not great daily wears IMO.

The BB58 feels totally different and would be a great daily option.

Being a little way on the other side of the honeymoon divide, my advice is that your budget priorities will never be the same as they are now. If you want to ever own a Tudor make the move today.

I would say don't buy any watch if you don't love it. If you love The Black Bay 58 , but you envision loving the black Bay 58 that doesn't exist yet in blue more, then go with the black Bay 58 black. It is very possible it will never be released in blue. But don't get it in Black if you don't already love the current iteration.

Yeah, I’m swinging around on this... if you don’t love a watch, regardless of when you got it, you will always be looking for the one you do love. I’d wait for “the one”.

Don't settle. Find another watch that you would love to own or commemorate your wedding with something else.

I would not wait on a watch you are "speculating" may show up in several years. This is a big event, memorialize it. I have a Pelagos and love it, you can even get blue.
