    Diver with 'coin' bezel

Please excuse any terminologies which may be incorrect, but I have a dive watch with a ‘scalloped’ bezel, which isn’t my preference, and I want a watch with a ‘coin’ edge bezel. Can you please help me answer two questions?

    1. If the Omega 300 had a quartz movement and date options, my search would be over. Can you please suggest a quality new quartz coin edge dive watch with date?

    2. Not wanting to start a controversy, but another thought is to potentially modify my current dive watch which has a quartz movement and date. I asked an Omega agent if the bezel of an Omega 300 would fit on my watch (Seamaster model 2541.80.00), which would solve my problem. Omega however wouldn’t answer my query (apparently due to anti-hybrid, anti-prestige reasons). Does anyone know if there is a coin bezel (Omega or other) that would fit on my watch?

If you are able to help me, I would be greatly appreciative.

    From the archives.
2254, non AC dial, PO bezel, PO seconds hand.

Once upon a time when it was easier to buy parts independently, you start with a 2254 or 2230, then you'd order a set of PO hands and a bezel (and the non AC dial if your base is the 2254).

It's not a perfect fit though as the crystal/bezel fit between the Seamaster and Planet Ocean is slightly different so there's a little gap/step between the two.

I realise it would be quite difficult, I was only kidding about trying to find one:)

It would be a quite a mod project to undertake needing at least one, maybe two donor watches for parts.

Still, it totally modernises the 'old' looking SMP and I reckon Omega could make a success of it if something like it was introduced as the new facelifted SMP. It would be a viable alternative to the rather thick PO.

Personally would not mod a seamaster, why mess with a icon. Better to get a CW as suggested or mod a Seiko to your hearts content

If you have the 2230, it's less work as it means you only need the bezel and hand set and even then, that's only if you want the applied markers of the nonAC dial (the 2230 is harder to source than the 2254). If you don't have to have the PO seconds hand (for the full MOD/MILSpec look) then it's just a bezel swap.

The tricky bit is that if you do all the hand swap, it means you'll need a trusted watchmaker as Omega won't like servicing it and would likely replace with the original hand (bezel swap can be done by yourself).

The target watches may be too low-end for you, but Yobokies and Murphy Manufacturing make quality coin-edge bezels for a variety of watches.

Yobokies bezels click. Murphy Manufacturing bezels do not (tight tolerances, though...friction does a good job with keeping the bezel in place).
