Do " Curved Lugs" Make the watch Appear smaller?

I'm trying to understand the reason why some watches use the " Curved Style lugs", Typically I see this more on Chronographs.
What does this do to the look of the watch?

I'm not sure that "curved style lugs" has any sort of standardized definition. Perhaps some sample pictures?

As far as apparent watch size, I find the distance from lug to lug to be more important than the distance across (with or without the crown), perhaps the most important measure. I also find that case design: large or small bezel, gap between springbar and case, case thickness, lugs that are angled or curved downward, etc. are all extremely important.

I generally don't look at watches above 40mm or so, but quite happily wear a 46mm chrono partly because the strap hits close so close the case (at around 48mm) that the measure is no larger than some of my 38mils

Curved Oris lugs work quite well - they must curve over the wrist to be effective.

I'm content with my watch collection

From a visual stand point, I think they make a watch look thinner. They also allow the fit to better follow the curvature of the wrist. For both of these reasons, I suppose one might see them more on large chronographs.

Like other design features, curved lugs are just a design feature, which may or may not look good on YOUR wrist.
