Do europeans more likely to wear automatic watches than N. Americans? I just don't frequently encounter any Canadians wear swiss automatic watches at all.

99.9% of Aussies wear Quartz watches mostly Seiko!

Some don't wear any watch because they know by instinct what time the pubs open!

I don't believe it is fair to group Europeans due to the diversity in all the countries. Instead, they should be grouped by height. Those under 5' 3" (or 1.6 meters) will wear quartz watches. They need the accuracy because they will never ask anyone for the correct time. If they do, they often get responses like "is the little hand not keeping up with the big hand" or "children's watches are often slow". It is also interesting to note that the responses are in English, even if they are live in Germany or France. Those taller than 5'3" (1.6 meters) are split between quartz and automatic. They would all wear quartz watches, but their are not enough people under 1.6 meters to take the watches from.

As you are aware, in Canada most residents don't lock their doors. The reason you don't see many automatic watches in Canada is most Canadians will not lock down the watch crown and the watch stops working after a good rain or snow storm.

In the USA quartz or automatic does not matter as long as the watch is big (42mm minimum). It is a known fact that a large watch on a man with a small wrist is a chick magnet. By slowly moving the wrist back and forth and chanting women will get naked. We have to chant very quietly since we are generally outside the window looking into thier house at the time. That's probably why we lock our doors (and watch crowns).

    Cheers,

    DaveB
