Do you go watch-less before buying a new watch?

So after 3 years, I finally have something incoming and I got a call from my AD to expect it today (fingers crossed)! I had to go to work today, so I'll have to pick it up on my way back, but while getting ready to leave in the morning, I was wondering whether to wear my watch or not. I wasn't too sure how to carry it back - in my pocket or a case. I normally wear a no-date Sub to work, so didn't want to be careless about it. Then it dawned on me that almost all of my purchases have been made online, and this is first time I'm actually picking up something from a brick and mortar AD. In the end, I didn't wear a watch and I've probably glanced at my wrist four-five times out of habit only to realise later that it's naked.

What do you guys do when you're about to buy/pick up a new watch? I think we can exclude impulse buys.
    Are you watching closely?

When I'm shopping for clothes, I don't walk into the store naked.
Over a half century of "just the right amount of odd."

    Perfect apology.

Personally, I wear my other pieces to show them off while I'm buying or trying or others.

    What he said.

I wear a watch. Usually what im wearing goes into the new watch's case and the new one is stripped of all protective plastic and goes on my wrist. Im not a "new watch should be treated like an egg" guy.

On the contrary, I would wear my nicest, just for comparison to see if that new purchase is on par with my others.

Whenever I go shopping for a watch or picking up a repaired piece, I just wear another watch.

There was 2 occasions where I was wearing a watch on each wrist. Most often, I would just put what I was wearing in the box that the new watch came in and then just wore the new watch.
    Chronic flipper...

No because I will wear my new purchase home as I do a lot of comparisons before hand and know if this is truly what I wanted and not a whim.

First, 3 years between incomings?! Congrats on removing your born again virgin status!

Now onto your silly question of whether you should wear a watch or not...not even going to answer that but if your only concern is where to put the old one, the new one comes with a watch box, right?

Any chance you'll tell us what you're going to pick up?
