Do you haggle over the price in a luxury watch shop?

There is another thread on etiquette in luxury watch shops, and I guess this is directly related, if somewhat more specific.
Do you ever haggle over the price/ask for a discount, or would this be considered bad etiquette?

Having been on the other side of the counter, it's expected.

While there are cultural differences in how you go about it, yes, I would definitely bargain. Etiquette is fine up to a point - when it is time to hand over money, it is a business transaction. I used to haggle over purchase prices of companies at one point - what's a watch by comparison? :)

Have done so for high/end audio, high-end bikes and luxury watches - and in Asia, US and Europe. And pretty much always with success (although I go in with a reasonable price target in mind - one that is a reasonable premium over grey market).

The exact percentage varies on the watch - I have gotten 10-30% off from ADs.

If the haggling is done politely it's perfectly all right.

If I marked up something from between 50% to 100%, I'd be glad to give you 10% off. ;)

I managed to get my Omega Speedmaster Hesalite reduced from £3,340 to £2,900. With my BLNR I paid full price £5,950.

    !00 points isn't much of a markup.

No. Don't want to look like a peasant. It's not like a few dollars matter more than my dignity. If it does, I probably am not financially ready enough to own any luxury items.

Absolutely I haggle. I'm not rude about it, but I won't hesitate to match the salesperson's demeanour. If I'm not happy with the price then I politely thank them and leave, although I have almost always got my price.

I wish I were in a good enough financial situation to take such a stance.
