Do you like the look of aged lume?

When I first started collecting watches, I didn't particularly care for aged lume. To me it made the watch look dirty and old. However, over time I've come to find that the golden tone adds a little charm a watch. I still don't "love" it, but maybe my mind is slowly changing.

I'm curious how most people feel about aged lume. If you had a choice between the same dial with aged lume or white lume, what would you choose?

For me it's gotta be crisp and white but i do appreciate why some like it. I may change my mind as i get older.

What i really don't like is fake aged lume.

If the lume and the rest of a vintage watch are original and in good condition then I much prefer the lume to stay aged. I'm not a fan of new watches with lume that is colored to look aged.

If it's a vintage watch with naturally aged lume then yes, I like it, or I'm at least ok with it. If it's a new/modern watch with faux aged lume then I don't like it. Faux aged lume to me is like buying new jeans that already has wear marks or holes in it.

I like the look of aged lume as long as I don't try to use it to actually see what time it is in the dark.

Depending on the style of the watch...I prefer white/light green lume on modern watch however I can accept patina lume on the watch that paying homage to the vintage (minus the problems associated with vintage) like pam 372

It makes the collection more diverse though

Re: Do you like the look of aged lume?

Naturally aged lume looks cool to me. As for "faux" aged lume, it depends on the watch. I understand that some people always hate it and it is an absolute deal breaker for them, but it doesn't bother me if the finished product is well executed. The new Railmaster and Hamilton Khaki Mechanical no-date are both examples of where I think it fits the watch well. Besides, who says that all lume needs to be white anyway? I wonder if it was thought of as tan rather than "faux" if opinions would be different. That being said, on my Speedmaster '57, I specifically opted for the version with the sword hands because I didn't want the aged lume look on that particular watch.
