I guess doctors are too busy to show off their watches. My FIL is a retired surgeon. He never wore a watch. He would have to take it off to scrub up, and the lockers they used at the hospital didn't have locks. He just uses his cell phone now to tell time. He's 88 years old. My family doc wears a G-Shock.

I’m pretty sure my doctor doesn’t wear a watch and if she did I’d be too busy telling her about my sky high blood pressure to take a deal of notice what sort it was.

I recently spent a little time in an orthopedic ward having smashed my ankle again. (3rd time). Saw lots of Dr's and consultants. All universally wearing G-Shocks and Apple wrist computers.

Except one Doctor. He had a 15 year old Panerai chronograph, and a Montblanc dress watch. I saw both. Had a very convivial chat.

Had bad crash a decade ago & crumbled my tibial plateau - first orthopedic surgeon who examined me was wearing a 1980's GMT Master. He was annoyed cos the professor later bumped him and he didn't get to operate. But we did talk watches before the morphine kicked in.

Alas, that's what I've heard as well. The industry hasn't quite catered to the needs of doctors and medics yet. More diving watches and aviation pieces than the number of humans of those professions in the world today, yet few watches for doctors.

I'm trying to find out more about pulsometer watches like the Aristo Doctors' watches and preferably pulsometer chronographs like Longines A-P, Graf Zeppelins and the like. My BIL is a recently made doctor and so I thought this style of watch would make a good gift.

I know the functional aspect of tool watches is outmatched these days by modern technology like dive computers instead of dive bezels, calculators instead of slide rules and smartphones instead of chronographs, but it would be nice to gift a watch that might actually have a useful feature to ones profession.. Or so I think.
