    Does this irritate you?

Is it just me that finds the indexing secondhand steps of a quartz movement that don't line up with the face marks really annoying?
Or line up over some of the dial and gradually drift out over the rest because the dial is not concentric?
Not just cheap watches I find
    This bugs me.

Not a gripe for me but it does bother quite a few members on this board. As for brands that get this alignment issue correct, take a look at Citizen (that brand does a lot right...)

Probably the most complained about issue with quartz watches. I think it should be pretty easy for a competent watchmaker to reset the hands properly, though.

This isn't down the dial not being concentric or printed badly.
Rather it's down to the (type of and quality) movement

I find it annoying, yes. I have few quartz watches. My Eco-Drives are nearly dead on. My Seiko Tuna is perfect. My Luminox hits close to dead on half way around and then starts hitting dead in between markers the other half... MY one other quartz Seiko, the second hand is a sub dial, so it's hard to tell. The Chrono hand hits pretty close. But my best is either my Seiko Tuna or my Citizen Skyhawk.

All my "higher end" watches are mechanical. I don't own any hifgh end quartz watches, unless you'd consider the Tuna high end?

No, not just you. It bugs me. As does not having a watch set so that the minute hand hits the marker perfectly at 60 seconds.

It used to. But I found it was extremely common. 50% of the quartz Omega seamasters I see have a mid-aligned seconds hand......friends ones and a lot of the AD displays I see of them

yes, it's a very common, and commonly disliked, problem. Some companies build in special circuits to adjust for it.
