    Does this look normal ?

So i picked up a couple bracelets from Hamilton/Swatch @ about $255 CAD each. I'm looking at the links that attach to the end link and it seems like the hole that the spring bar goes through is a little off centre making one side extremely thin. It is steel but do you think over the years this could cause a problem after all the wear ?

    Thanks a lot.

No. That does not look normal. I see long and short term issues.

In the long term, I think it could cause a problem over an extended period of time.

In the short term, there is no way the bracelet could go on straight or symmetrically if one side was crooked or off center.

If its an easy return I would send it back for a replacement.

    Thought so. Thanks.

Are both sides like that? When they are fitted with the endlink, does everything look like it should?

Technically I wouldn't worry and I wouldn't expect any trouble either. But since it's clearly off center and thinner than it should be, I'd also send it back. It shouldn't look like that.

They're like that on each end on both sides.

+1. Could be an accident waiting to happen.

From a strict engineering perspective, steel's really strong stuff, that's why they make aircraft landing struts from it. In a test to failure, I think your wrist would fail long before that broke. Taking wear into account, it would have to be pretty grimy for a long time before wear caused a failure.

From an aesthetic standpoint, it's just wrong. It isn't to print as no engineer in his right mind would spec that. I'm amazed they were able to do that without having the drill wander out the thin side.

From a standpoint of getting a band that's made correctly, what makes you think The next band will be any better? You might want to think about just returning it for a refund.

Not normal at all. I would imagine it will pose a problem in the future, but that may also depend on how much you wear the watch and how hard you are on them. I'd return it personally.

That would bother me. It looks like something that could break suddenly, then you might loose / drop the watch.
