Down to the Wire. Help me Pick! AP/Zenith/ Hublot/IWC

    Hey Follow WUSeekers,

Every year I buy a higher end piece and each year I go in with a specific criteria To help narrow down my options. This years Criteria was the following

    42mm-48mm
    Open Caseback
    Prestigous Brand
    In house Calibre Movement
Scratch resistant (Ie nothing PVD coated) Ceramic or Carbon Preferred.
Limited Production (not limited edition, just not crazy amounts produced)

Here are the finalists along with my pros and cons

    Zenith Lightweight

Pros: Limited Production (/100) - Iconic Movement all made in titanium! - Great Colors - Entire Case made from Carbon Fiber

Cons: Maybe too lightweight? - Price, 22K for a Zenith / Special Order Only - I cant find this watch anywhere to actually try on to see how I like it. And It may be sold out before I can anyways

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Carbon

Pros: Recognizable, Amazing Size and Weight, Holds Value, Iconic and Historic DNA

Cons: Price 36K Retail Tag OUCH (however most ADs will discount a decent percentage)

    Hublot Unico Ceramic

Pros : Trendy Style - Skeletonized Dial - Unico Movement Smooth as butter All ceramic Case

Cons : Size, Very large with Large Crown

    IWC Amg Black Series

Pros: Great Retail Price tag at $12,700, Amazing Case in person utilizing two different finished ceramics. Titanium Rotor- I drive an AMG!

Cons - Super Plain dial - No complication

I would love my fellow watch lvoers input and 2 cents or any other recommendation that you think trumps all!

Thanks in advance for looking and for your input!

I love the Zenith first, followed by the Forged Carbon AP. Good luck with your search!

For me, I like the AP the most, by far. That marble pattern (?) around the case is really amazing and unique. The Zenith would be my second choice. Not really a fan of either the Hublot or IWC.

Have you considered the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon? Seems like something that would be in-line with your choices.

I am a Zenith fan, but in this case I would opt for the IWC. I really like the simplicity and clean look of the dial.

Great Suggestion! In fact that was one of the first I considered. Its a great piece but It got knocked out of the running due to the fact that ive previously owned a PO and I personally didnt care for the laser engraved Tachymeter on the bezel.

My thoughts as well. Own 3 Zeniths but prefer the IWC out of these. One of the first all black watches I've seen and liked.

Can't say I am a fan of blacked out watches, however, the AP is the most interesting out of the bunch (imho) with the Zenith coming in at a close second.

I would cross out the Hublot. I can't consider Hublot prestigious when it comes to being in same league as the others esp the AP. Go with a clean PVD style like the IWC. i love AP n Zenithbut IMO carbon cases already look like a dated trend that bore me. More clean the design=more timeless the look and the longer it will take to grow tired of the look.
