    DOXA or Sinn U1?

    Hi folks,

I'm considering a dive watch as my new acquisition and am down to either a DOXA 1000T Sharkhunter or a Sinn U1.

Which would you recommend, and why? Any comments/suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Der Sinn.
    Why?
    Better steel.
    Hardened bezel
Own identity (as opposed to the (sorry) "generic" late 1960ies look of the Doxa

+1 Everything that Janne said. Plus, you rarely (never?) hear of anything going wrong with a Sinn. Or questionable business strategies.

Plus...The Doxa selling watches today is not the original Doxa. On the other hand there is only one Sinn. This might not matter to you, but it matters to me. If you're talking about picking up a vintage Doxa, however, well they are awesome.

Sinn U1 all the way. I might be biased just a tad because I do own a U2, but I have handled the U1 as well and I liked it a lot.

If you really dive and are looking for a real tool watch, go for the Sinn. However, if you are like me and the deepest you go is pulling the kids goggles from the bottom of the pool- well then i have to say the Doxa is a much cooler looking watch.

I posted the same question in another forum a month ago..

    I chose the U1..Why?
Bigger, better, fitter, cleaner, harder, cooler, and because its a Sinn for Christ sake

    Re: DOXA or Sinn U1?

    I have the U1, a TUSA and a 1000T Pro.

If you are only going to get one, I would suggest the U1 because...

    it's the U1!!!!

However, it is more of a "tool watch" and if that is an issue than go with the Doxa.

However, I like them all very much!

ps Look around at pictures and you will most likely find the U1 on a lot more strap options than the Doxa, in case that is important to you, too.

At one time I had considered a Doxa but I couldn't get past the case design.

The fact that you are even considering a U1 means you are OK with the iconic tinker toy hands. If you are already past that then there are a lot of other reasons to chose the Sinn U1, most especially for me are the drilled lugs for quick straps changes, the crown at 4:00 (it's easy on the wrist), hardened case, and mine runs about +3 seconds per week!

I've had mine for 7 months and it still looks LNIB.

Thanks Janne and Jason. I didn't know that it's a different Doxa today selling the watches. Is there any reason to this?

The Sinn U1 on bracelet seems to be sold out on their site though...
