A Dream Watch?? - What would you want

    Hi All,

My first post here on this forum, I thought it would be interesting to see what are the key elements for your dream watch?

    1. What size in mm?
    2. What complications?
    3. What style?
    4. Movement Swiss, Japanese or Chinese
    5. Quartz or Mechanical (Auto or winding)
    6. Type of strap
    7. Price point
    8. What else is important i.e box, paperwork, manual?

As I am only starting out on my horology journey I will be keen to see what people think for there dream watch.

    Regards

Re: A Dream Watch?? - What would you want

Sincerely, my dream is to be totally happy with one, or maybe two watches only and to be rid of this insane desire to frequent authorised dealers and forums! I believe that one of the reasons I have not stumped up the cash for a "WUS standard" (such as an NDSub, SMP, SO etc) is that I think it likely that after a few weeks of oohing and aahing over it, I'd be planning a complimentary purchase. Right now I have far too many watches, but at least I have not broken the bank in collecting them. My most expensive purchase ever, gets little wrist-time.

My dream watch would be this 53 year old 35mm that I currently like to wear every day.
I'm now searching for an extra cal 30L movement to be used for spare parts, for not IF
    but WHEN it needs repair.

Re: A Dream Watch?? - What would you want

    Great topic.

My ideal watch would look something like this but with my specs.

    1. What size in mm? 42mm by 12mm thick
    2. What complications? Date & 10 bps second hand
    3. What style? Diver
    4. Movement Swiss, Japanese or Chinese? Swiss, although I'm cool with any country as long as it's a reliable and well finished movement
    5. Quartz or Mechanical (Auto or winding)? Automatic - preferably with 3 day power reserve or more
    6. Type of strap? Leather lined with rubber for water resistance or scratch resistant metallic bracelet
    7. Price point? Up to $6000, I want free watch servicing for life though
    8. What else is important? Lumed sapphire bezel. Scratch resistant case - e.g. tungsten carbide, cobalt chrome, or metallic sheen ceramic.
I'm content with my watch collection
