dress watch. nice looking under 500$.suggestions pls?

    Hello there

I like watches. I have some cheap watches like Prim, a Seiko 5 and actually have Seiko kinetic autorelay model. I will try to post some pictures of my poor collection.

I am looking for a dress watch to wear everyday with a suit at my work. I have seen a Swatch around 240$ till now. I am open to any suggestions. I like Tissot. I like it be black dial and around 38 mm and it dowsn't matter if it is quarts although mechanical watches suprises me always.

I would really appreasciate a good online shop with international shipping.

thnx in advance for your help.

    Hello,

it seems that you are also from Czech Republic if you had Prim I expect, that you had a vintage Prim, not current collection - it costs almost more than Omega

I can reccomend you Stowa Antea Black, Stowa Antea Flieger, Archimede Pilot 39mm. You can also try SpeedBird III - there is very nice review in Reviews section
Stowa Antea KS (my wife), Nomos Orion Rosé Gold glasboden, Timefactors Speedbird III

    Hi,
If you are into seikos, I would have to recommend the (mechanical) seiko spirit line. Various models are available from seiya(http://www.seiyajapan.com/). Seiya is a japanese watch specialist.
Most of the spirits are available for under US$500, with free international shipping worldwide. Just click on the SEIKO mechanical icon on the left hand side to check them out. Most of them have sapphire crystals on the front and a mineral glass see through back.
There are also a bunch of japanese Quartz watches and such as well.

    Good luck with your watch-hunting.

I agree. I have a black strap Arcadia from Archimede. It's a nice touch.

Check out the Hamilton Jazzmaster. There are 37mm and 40mm sizes and purchased new should come just under your budget. Better yet, look on the sales forums for a good deal. Beautiful watch

great tips... i wonder where I can find an online reliable Stowa AD that ships internationally... Also I will be looking its history.

    The Aristo was great also...

Meanwhile I am posting my cheap "collection".. I would love to get information about my Prim watch. It should be a cheap model right? :) Unfortunately I have replaced the crown and the strap. i was young when I did it.

Thnx guys. I don't see any Tissot fan here. :) Any other prefered watch by you? :)

If you can also indicate me some reliable online shops it would be just great. Via PM of course.

Log in on the Tissot Forum here on Watchuseek. There should be some fans.

On Czech watch forum Chronomag are some threads in English:
    http://forum.chronomag.cz/index.php?showforum=17

Official marketing history of Prim is here:
    http://www.prim.cz/en/company/

    Here is real story :

Prim has been founded 50 years ago. It has been producer of watches for comunism mass market in Czech and Slovak Republic. PRIM exported his watches to Germany under brand "Ancre" (hope so). Everythink has been in-house made including movement, cases..etc...

Quality was below standard - only few models were equipped with steel case with waterproof more that 3ATM. Unfortunately goverment did not want Prim to produce higher watches. They needed to satisfy demand of civilian market. There were two "higher" military models, both of them for Czech Army:
    - Flight watches(Prim Letecke)
    - Special forces watch (Orlik)

For many people in Czech republic Prim watches were first (and sometimes only) watches they got (including me)

After Velvet revolution Prim almost bankrupt. Than they started to produce watches in segment <1000USD, but they were not sucesfull as they wanted to be. Few years ago, they have leaved mass market and today they try to enter luxury market with production of soliters. Price are in the same level as Omega, but not quality. Today their salesman visit you in your home, he show you some Prim watches and help you to design your watch, but with original ETA movement without any modification or their movement from comunism, with quality below Seiko 7S movement.

They have good cases, they even produce cases for some swiss brands, but they do not have good hands and dials (related to price you pay for it). They have some plans to start produce their movements from comunism again.

Here is one Orlik (from current collection, not vintage original one):
