    Dress Watch Size

    All,

I am looking to buy a dress watch, and am currently liking the look of the LA Grande Classique de Longines: La Grande Classique de Longines - Longines - L4.708.4.11.6

My question is: The diameter of the watch is 34mm, is this too small for a dress watch? Or will it wear "big" due to having that white face?

    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

Welcome! Try it on - it's the only way.

However, too small for me I reckon.

I've a wrist that's no bigger than 6.75" and I've a 34mm watch, which feels just about big enough not to feel too small. The kind of design on that Longines prefers being on the small side, imo

34-36mm is a perfect size for a dress watch in my opinion, unless you are a yeti. The watch I typically wear for dressy occasions is my Tangente, which is 35mm. I would not want it to be any bigger. It is a perfect size.

Nobody can tell you what is too big or too small for you. It's all down to how you feel about what you see with your own eyes when you look at your own wrist. My wrist is a bit better than 7 1/2" and I happily wear 34mm vintage dress watches. But that's me and what I like.

    Re: Dress Watch Size

I was one of those no smaller than 43mm guys, but I tried on some dress watches recently and changed my mind. 43mm is good for bezeled watches but dress watches I feel fine with down to 36mm and my wrist is over 8"

    Re: Dress Watch Size

I might be in the minority here, but I have a 6.5" wrist and I really wouldn't wear anything smaller than 39/40mm for even a dress watch. I've tried some smaller and on my wrist, they just look very feminine. My wife has also agreed, but I guess it's just personal taste :)

I'm hoping to get either a Reverso or a Portuguese for my dress watch :D
