Read an article about this in the newspaper today: $26,000 watch stolen from downtown Toronto hotel | Metro News Turns out the watch was stolen on July 17. What?? What took the police or the guy so long to go public? Surely it's long gone by now, unless the crook is wearing it. "Police are asking for the public’s help and for anyone who “knows of any person who has recently and inexplicably come into possession of the same type of watch” to contact them." Sure, we all notice what others wear, AND we'll take the time to report buddy to the police for having a Rolex Sea-Dweller. So... who recently got a Sea-Dweller here?

I have a Seiko5 for the times I have to put my watch in the locker when I go swimming.

Poor guy, I bet this will put a terrible hole in his weekly rotation. Too bad Rob Ford isn't mayor anymore, I'm sure he and Doug could have fixed this.

Come to think of it ol' Rob may have been the thief!

Not taking it into the pool could have been the absolutely appropriate decision - leaving it in the locker, not so much...
I believe we're in complete agreement here; my intention was to point out that the mocking tone of the NP article wasn't warranted, since the watch wasn't necessarily "waterproof" any more.

Maybe it is just me, but I would not wear a $26k watch to anything that would require me to take it off and leave it unattended in a place that is not my home. Even more so a place where people could relatively easily steal something, like in a locker room.

Agreed. Just the thought of standing there, taking it off and placing it in the locker.... My brain would be like, "dude, no.... This is bad... Figure out something else...but definitely not this"

Bad things happen to good people. I turned my back for a minute and had my murse lifted from a shopping cart a while back. Luckily only cash was taken, no credit cards or anything that could have really messed up my life. No, no Rolex was in the murse, but it taught me a lesson.
