    Dust and Heat

I bought a Tissot V8 Swissmatic. My first automatic watch and it is very nice. I have another year of working in the middle of the desert in the Middle East with regular sandstorms and the air thick with dust (I am not near the sea, unfortunately). Every few days I have to dust everything in my flat.

Will the watch be okay? Will the 50 degree temperatures affect it? I have another nice watch (Zeno-Watch Basel) that was cheaper and isn’t an automatic I may just take that back with me.

The heat may accelerate degradation of the fine lubricants. Nothing a service couldn’t fix.

If the watch is waterproof, I doubt sand will be a problem. Unless you were to leave the crown open.

    Re: Dust and Heat

As far as temperatures above 100F, I wouldn’t suppose there would be a problem, but as MorningTundra stated, nothing regular servicing wouldn’t help. With 300m water resistance and a screw down crown, sand shouldn’t be a problem whatsoever.
