    Ecological watches

Hi there, i just saw the movie "The day the earth stood still", the original oldie version was about aliens warning earthlings about the use of Nuclear power. I was surprised when i found out that this new version was about aliens wanting to wipe us out because we are not "green".
Well with watches always in my head, i wanted to garner everyone's opinion on which type of watches are more earth friendly. I'm dissing traditional quartz because of the expendable batteries. So let me know your opinions.
    TIA

Well this is sort of an odd thread but both the ecodrive and kinetic have some sort battery capacitor type thing and I'm guessing those would require some less than pleasant chemicals to make so probably the auto-mechanical. That said I don't think any of them are really a big issue. I think this whole green thing has gotten quite ridiculous.

    The answer is quite simple:
Mechanical, it doe not matter if it is a Manual or an Automatic. The expected lifespan is well over 100 yoears, probably longer, if it is serviced correctly. And it does not contain any batteries, electronical componets etc.

I think we may wipe ourselves out w/ a big war rather than a green catastrophe. that said, imho mechanical watches are greener, no batteries, may be greener to make mech. watches.

as long as it keeps shining (and it isn't cloudy, or nighttime...) it is as green as you can get.

    +1

Yeah, any mechanical wind watch (hand or auto).

... and especially concerning the whole 'green thing' getting ridiculous, but I understand that a change is needed if we have any desires to maintain life for several future generations to come... my problem is that I don't want the poor earth to have to endure us one more minute, let alone future generations, so I'm proud and content with being completely narcissistic and wasteful to suit my every whim and want.
