This is either a trend with Chrono24, or it's just me

It seems like more and more often, people are putting listings on "lockdown" for watches that they want while they take a couple weeks or so to come up with the money, if ever. Not only was this extremely frustrating when I thought my watch was sold and subsequently wasn't, but now there's a watch that I want to buy and that the seller is willing to sell to me. But alas, since someone convinced the seller to accept an offer to buy and thus put his/her listing in a reserved status, we both have to play the waiting game and be at the mercy of someone who may or may not ever pay.

If I'm ultimately able to buy this watch, great, I'll snatch it right up. But once that is said and done, I'm deleting my account. They need to offer better protections for consumers if I'm to come back. Has anyone else had anything similar happen to them?

    I feel better now.

That’s annoying. I suspect it’s not a delay to come up with money, it’s more likely holding the watch to see if the price on one can be bettered elsewhere.
The other possibility is a buyer/seller chain where they are waiting to sell in order to buy. That’s getting similar to house buying chains - I would get out of that scenario for sure.
I wouldn’t use the seller again if this Reserved status thing is something you didn’t know about/agree to.
    Good luck with selling it.

The other annoying thing is messaging a dealer, and never getting a response. At least half of the times I've tried to ask a question, I never hear back.

Just one of the MANY reasons I neither buy nor sell on Chrono24.

This is why I gave up on them. I don't even look there anymore.

As an aside, I built a watch search engine that I launched this week. The goal is to try and have a better experience for working with only trusted dealers. Orolo.co - might be something you’d be interested in

I actually just bought my first luxury watch from a store on Chrono24. Mine was paid within 48 hours of me accepting the offer.
Not sure if the listing was locked while I negotiated (and tried to fix a verified by visa issue) but I do think that there should be an automatic quick time limit (4 business days?). Sellers could extend the limit IF (and only if) there is active negotiation but there should be a hard limit that the seller cannot go beyond.

Anything getting into the realm of 'weeks' should never happen.

Maybe I'll give it a shot; watchrecon hasn't been what it once was for a while...
