Ending 2015 feeling a bit calmer

Iíve spent a good deal of time poring over the many watches out there. Chronographs, Fliegers, Dress watches, Marine watches, etc. And I think Iíve come to the conclusion that what I like best is a simple diver. And I have two of those, and two slightly dressier divers. So really what else do I need?

I think Iíve learned to appreciate other styles of watch without thinking I have to own all of them. I donít think I have a grail. New watches will come along from time to time but I feel Iím entering calmer waters.

You have a grail, you just don't realise it yet

That's a perfect example of what I'm talking about. That is undoubtedly a beautiful watch but I'm happy to admire it without wanting it.

Likewise I have seriously lusted over the SBGH001. It is about as beautiful as a watch gets IMO. And whilst I could save up and buy one I think I'd be too terrified to wear it for fear of clouting it against a door jam or similar.

That's a nice position to be in. I'm getting there slowly, but sometimes I can't resist - just to try things out.

This is why I have 2 of my fav watches. I'll be getting another same GO perpetual soon. Dealer offered me old price with the massive discount. Can't refuse and very hard to find brand new.

100% agree. Even though when I started learning about watches I shunned divers for their ubiquity. After many hours and dollars, the beauty of a simple diver invaded and I started looking at them more and more. After some sales, I'm down to my Black Bay and an Orient dress watch and I'm entirely content.

I agree with the OP dive watches are my favourite. I wear a Submariner daily and have 2 chronographs which realistically I rarely wear and they're quite similar watches (Speedmaster FOIS and Tag Heuer Carrera Japan Racing Edition). I've been thinking (rather vocally on here as well) that an SD4K may be the one watch for me but there's a niggling feeling that maybe I should pick up an In House Pelagos in black and a Tudor Black Bay, also in black. I'm glad you're entering calmer waters, I think however that I may be in the eye of the storm.

My goodness, I buy two pairs of pants if I love them, etc. And I'm so crazy about my GO sixties (in brown) that now I'm loving looking at a blue...my wife just does not understand...
