    Engraved Watches

    Hey folks,

I was looking around on eBay today and came across a stunning Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso.
The only downside of it was that the back had been engraved with the person's name, year and a short message.
Now, my question is, has anyone tried to remove engravings on a watch? (if that's even possible...)

Never tried it. Depending on the material and depth of the engraving it may or may not be possible.

Personally I don't think I'd want a watch that had been engraved, unless I knew the original owner.

Change your name and adopt a child who was born in said year. Simples.

I'm not speaking from any experience, but surely it would be possible. If the engraving is so deep, then it can be filled and re-finished.

It's part of the watch's history. I would suggest embracing it. Or buying new might be the better option, for those who like to feel a true sense of original ownership.

Surely you can make up some story involving that name and that message?
Or go make friends with an individual with that name and lead your friendship in a direction that is applicable.

Easy solution - don't look at the back (which is a bit difficult while wearing it).

Steer clear. It only helps the dead ex-owner take demonic possession of your wrist.
